Maureen O’Shay, MS, Research Strategist

Maureen O’Shay is an independent communications consultant and researcher with nearly 10 years experience in all facets of communication, including public relations, qualitative and quantitative research, media relations, crisis communications and public affairs.

Most recently, as the public relations manager at an award-winning advertising and public relations firm in the San Francisco Bay Area, Maureen launched a national construction company; positioned homebuilder clients as leaders in their field with local, national and trade publications; landed front-page reviews for her arts and entertainment clients; and coordinated countless press events.

While working as an account executive at Tallahassee’s Moore Consulting Group, an O’Dwyers “Top 100” U.S public relations firms, she received multiple awards for her work on the “State of Tobacco Control Report Campaign” for her client the American Lung Association. Maureen also led the public relations and media blitz for Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ “Florida Shrimp – Wild and Wonderful!” campaign. Her work resulted in hundreds of media hits and significant increased awareness around the state and country.

Maureen’s healthcare public relations foundation began while serving as spokesperson for the Florida Department of Health. There she coordinated all press outreach and response for the Medical Quality Assurance Division of the department, which includes all medical review boards. During her time at the department, Maureen was awarded the Governor’s Award for her work on the Florida medical malpractice crisis.

Maureen holds a Master of Science in Mass communication and a Bachelor of Science in communication (with an emphasis on public relations) from The Florida State University.
